- TaG's first product is a kitchen table that can be used outdoors. How did this product come about?

Actually, I've been looking for a table ever since I started enjoying camping, but even if I liked the design, I couldn't bring myself to buy one because I thought it would be heavy and require careful handling.

Since I use a commercial kitchen at home, I've always wanted a table that looks like one from a commercial kitchen, but that is lightweight and easy to carry, so I can use it without worrying about scratches or stains.

On my days off, I often go hiking with my dog or walk around in large parks, and when I eat lunch, I take out the Helinox Tactical Table and Tactical Chair. They are compact, lightweight, and sturdy, but I felt they were a little lacking when it came to camping or cooking on the roof of my house.

From there, we came up with the idea of creating a table top that could update the functionality of the Helinox table, using only the legs.

When I want to keep my luggage as compact as possible, such as when I go on a picnic or hiking, I can just put the chairs and table in my backpack and when I want to enjoy a rooftop meal or cook while camping, I just take the table top and legs with me.

- I see. It's great that you can use the existing table top while changing the top to accommodate a variety of situations. Could you tell us about the points you focused on when designing this table?

First of all, as we mentioned in our previous interview, in order to ensure that the product can be used for a long time, we have used stainless steel [SUS304] for the table top, which is rust-resistant, heat-resistant, and strong, so that it can be easily maintained and used without any problems.

The surface has a finish that makes scratches less noticeable, and we wanted to keep the weight as low as possible, so we used aluminum for the frame.

In terms of multi-functionality, we focused on making the tables connectable to accommodate everyone from solo diners to families, and also on making the table space more spacious.

When the stove is in use, the stove cover can be hung on the included wire hanger and used as a shelf, and when the stove is not in use, the trivet can be hung on the hanger and the cover placed over the burners, allowing you to use the table surface efficiently.

In addition, we have made it possible to connect functional items such as snowpeak's flat burners, wire baskets, TTA unit frames, and lantern hangers to make cooking even more comfortable and enjoyable.

To prevent the stove cover from coming off when you take it in and out of the storage bag or when you are moving the table, the stove cover is designed to lock when you store the wire hanger on the back. When you are not using the stove, you can leave the wire hanger on the back and the cover will not come off, allowing you to use it as a solid table.

For storage in my kitchen at home, I use the wire basket that we developed this time, which can be attached to the kitchen table, and I store my pots and dishes in it. However, the frying pans, pots and dishes that fit into the basket can be easily taken with me when I go camping.

I choose frying pans, pots, and cooking utensils that will last a long time, so I use them not only when camping but also at home.

After a camp meal, you can simply throw your dirty dishes into the wire basket and leave them to wash and dry in the kitchen, which is very convenient.

I think it's hard to cook in a place other than your familiar kitchen at home because you don't know where everything is. When cooking, you need to use a lot of tools and steps, and you also need to use fire, so if you're not used to it, you can get flustered. Things get scattered all over the table. When I first started camping, I didn't know where everything was, and I was always missing something, so I don't remember enjoying cooking.

I think one of the fun things about camping is thinking about what to eat while enjoying a beautiful view in your favorite place. I want to enjoy both the time spent cooking and the time spent eating.

With this in mind, we aimed to create a kitchen table that would be as user-friendly as possible, where you know where everything is and can reach it quickly, just like your kitchen at home.

Having more space means I can enjoy cooking, and the storage space keeps the table tidy, so I can easily complete the entire process of washing up and tidying up, which feels great.

- So it's really a table like those used in commercial kitchens. You can use it roughly and it's easy to use, so you can enjoy cooking just like you would in your own kitchen at home. The fact that it's tough yet lightweight was a great plus point.

Thank you. After I made the prototype, I tried using it in a variety of places, such as on the roof of my house, in the park, in the mountains, and by the river. Because it is made of a light and tough material, I felt like taking it to a variety of places without feeling self-conscious.

Of course, we use it for camping, but on a day off, it's nice to just sit on the table and chairs and enjoy the view outside while leisurely brewing a cup of coffee in the morning. We can connect the tables on the roof and invite our parents and friends over for a BBQ, or eat dinner with our dog in the river on hot days. We've found more ways to enjoy it as an extension of our everyday lives.

There are so many different ways to have fun depending on the location and the people, so I feel like there will continue to be many different ways to play in the future.
